Ok, so my players absolutely loved this module. I think maybe I went a bit easy on them in terms of how aggressive the cubes were, but they were having so much fun trying to understand the situation that I didn't want to interrupt it with a lot of combat. A+, would happily run again (if I could find a new batch of players, or somehow wipe the memory of my existing players).
If I ran it again, I'd probably try to drop more clues about what some of the devices do, instead of just saying "nothing appears to happen when you press that button". Spoilers:
For the Swapper room, I told them that they started drifting slightly towards the gap between the blocks after pressing the button. The idea being that the swapper moved that chunk of atmosphere outside and replaced it with vacuum.Ayo! Clad they liked it! Always good to hear that the adventures reach tables. Sounds like you made the right call, let them explore if they are intrigued. You got a point there, it would be good to have some noticeable effect besides the main function.
Can someone please clarify what's happening in the Swapper room? I think I understand everything else, but that one room is just not making sense. As in, what is being swapped? Something inside the room? Something outside the cube? And the jet engine and control board stuff behind the panels... is that just random tech or bits of the player's ship or what?
Ayo! Admitedly it is bit obfuscated explanation. Spoilers:
The selection on the screen is ment to show a rectangle outside the qube. Pressing the button works as a two way teleport, swapping the space (and all it contains) between the corner boxes and outside selection. So the jet engine and control board have been snatched from another ship with this contraption.I hope this makes sense!Great, thanks! I finally figured the main part myself after asking the question, but I was still confused about the stuff behind the two panels, so that helps a lot. Looking forward to running this with my group tonight!
