MARBLE NIGHTMARES: Monsters for Mothership RPG
A downloadable bestiary
This is a yearly report by ██████ regarding the. Marble Nightmares. We recorded 4 monoliths from the ████ ██ asteroid belt. Here the findings are in a concise and captivating manner. We hope this continues to solidify trust and funding for the effort.
The “marble nightmares” are black and white ~2 m (6.5 ft) tall marble-textured rectangular monoliths, often found half submerged on the asteroids. Long exposure by mammals and androids leads to shared dreams, most often nightmares. Multiple accounts confirm that the monoliths suddenly disappear, leaving behind extraordinary anomalies resembling elements from the dreams.
The prevailing theory is that our minds affect the creations, but we fail to imagine beauty and utility under their influence. Possibly they could conceive precise things under suitable stable minds.
As per tradition, these pages are illustrated, this time by our lovely intern █████ . Captivating and interesting interpretations. Enjoy.
MARBLE NIGHTMARES is an in-universe two-page brochure bestiary, compatible with the Mothership Sci-Fi Horror RPG 1e.
It is a report of 4 illustrated horrors born from mysterious monoliths, each with their own deadly capabilities. Included is a mapped mining ship to use as a setting for monolith scavenging.
Ideas on how to use this resource:
■ As a one-shot, set the crew to excavate a monolith. On their way back, nightmares start to haunt them...
■ Drop a monolith as a MacGuffin or random hazard into any campaign.
■ Throw the 4 horrors into your adventures.
■ Have the crew find the pamphlet or partly redacted version of it for immersion or potential adventure hook
